There is not one person who does not want whiter teeth. However, with the whitening kits that are available, there comes an issue of teeth care that comes into play. Many of these bleaching kits can cause the teeth to be even more sensitive than they may be already. The reason is that the bleaching is penetrating the surface of the teeth, which leaves the teeth more susceptible to temperature changes.

Because of the problems that teeth whitening can cause, there are a few things that people should keep in mind. First off, start using a sensitive toothpaste from the get go in order to combat the sensitivity that may arise later. Secondly, avoid eating and drinking those things that could stain teeth because during the time period in which you are whitening, you are more likely to make these stains dig in deeper into the tooth causing more trouble later on.

The person should be sure that they are using a whitening kit that their dentist has provided. He or she will recommend one that is not going to have a dramatic effect when compared to some other kits that are out there. In worst case scenarios, those that use whitening kits may find that the nerve damage caused to their teeth is irreversible. In this case, they may have to have the nerve of the tooth deadened, which is a very painful operation to go through. And many times, the tooth simply falls out down the line due to the nerve being deadened.

This does not mean that people should avoid whitening their teeth, after all everyone wants a white smile like the stars have. However, they should do this under the recommendations and supervision of a dentist in order to ensure that they do not cause massive damage to the tooth and end up having to go through months of pain to correct it.
